“Parasites are the missing diagnosis in the genesis of many chronic health problems, including diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and endocrine system.” Herman R. Bueno, M.D., British researcher in tropical medicine.
Since traveling to Asia, Peru and will be traveling to Bali, Indonesia at the end of July for my yoga teacher training, I thought it would be a good idea to try out a parasite cleanse. Since attending school I have been interested in trying out different cleanses, because of the numerous benefits it adds to the body. For example, boosts the immune system, increases energy levels, improves memory, and has been linked to a longer life span. I have also learned in school that many people could have parasites living in their colon and not even know it. I have also grown up with my dog Farley and was told in school that if you have been around animals most of your life, there is a good chance parasites could be a factor.
These are the signs parasites could be present:
- Yellowish face
- Fast heart beat
- Chest pain
- Pain in the navel
- No desire to eat food
- Constantly eating, but still feeling hungry
- Blurry or unclear vision when bending over or standing up
- Pain experienced in the back, thighs, and shoulders
- Forgetfulness and unable to think clearly
- Gas and bloating
- Numb hands
- Drooling or grinding teeth while sleeping
- Damp lips at night, while dry lips during the day
- Bedwetting
- Lethargy and slow reflexes
I for sure experience a few of those symptoms, but even if no symptoms are present, naturopaths will recommend doing a parasite cleanse at least twice a year for prevention. Parasite cleanses can be very beneficial in people who experience a lot of allergy symptoms as well.
You can find high concentrations of parasites in commercial pork products such as bacon, ham, hot dogs, cold cuts and pork chops. As well, chicken, beef, lamb and even fish can be contaminated. Sushi from different parts of the world can contain the larvae of many different species of parasitic worms. Cows can be fed dried flesh of other cows and can get parasites embedded in their organs. High temperatures and microwaves are not always effective at killing these organisms. No wonder vegetarian and vegan diets have become so popular. I myself am not either, but I am not a huge meat eater. I am not against eating meat, but I only eat it when I crave chicken or fish. I do enjoy eating fish more then chicken, just because of the numerous health benefits fish has for the body. For example, one benefit is that it is full of essential fatty acids that help reduce inflammation in the body.
Now I do not want to go scaring you away from eating meat if you enjoy meat, but just doing everything in moderation and if you experience some of the signs and symptoms up above, maybe a parasite cleanse would be beneficial for you.
Avena’s Parasite Cleanse Recommendations
I have to take 5 capsules of the Para-Ease one hour before bed and 5 capsules first thing in the morning with a glass of filtered or spring water. Very few herbs or medical ingredients can get rid of them, but with the blended herbs and other ingredients in the Para-Ease it creates an environment inside your body that strongly offends the parasites.
Next, I will take the Herb Cocktail one hour after the Para-Ease. It is very important to keep food or other supplements away and to not consume within one hour of food, medicine or other supplements. The herb cocktail is used for short term relief of occasional constipation, promotes bowel movement by direct action on the large intestine. Important that regular bowel movements are occurring for proper elimination of parasites out of the body.
I take 2 capsules, at the beginning of each meal, of the enhanced digestive enzymes. Enzymes work everywhere in the body to promote healthy digestion and metabolism. They are crucial for life! Your body depends on millions of enzymes for biochemical reactions in the body to take place in order to keep you alive and functioning optimally.
Lastly, I take four capsules of the Proteolytic Probiotics at night with the Para-Ease. Probiotics provide the body with live microorganisms that are essential for life. It yields healthy gut flora in order to help fight off bad bacteria and stimulate a healthy immune system.
Exercise is important to move the lymphatic system around in your body! The lymphatic system is what fights off bacteria and viruses and is linked to our immune system. It does not have a pump like the heart that pumps blood around the body, lymph is moved by muscle contractions around the lymph vessels, which is why it is so important to move throughout the day.

This is only my second day, but I have already noticed feeling random bouts of fatigue and I know that is a symptom you can experience when taking a cleanse. The cleanse is supposed to last 90 days but I am going to try out 30 days instead and see how I feel after a month. Usually you will feel worse, before you feel better.
